Monday Motivation #12, No Housing Crisis In Heaven
Recently I’ve had several friends that were looking for a new house and their search proved to be quite difficult and stressful. Apparently, the supply doesn’t meet the demand. I’ve heard sad stories of finding the perfect house only for it to be sold before they could even look at it. Or, they put a bid in for a house only to be outbid by another buyer. All good for the seller but not the buyer!
Thinking of the housing crisis, I am reminded that there is no housing crisis for God’s children, believers in His Son Jesus Christ. My mother’s favorite passage in the Bible was John 14:1-6. In it, Jesus, knowing he was soon to be crucified, told his disciples that he would be leaving them. But, he comforted them with the truth that his Father’s house had many rooms and he was going to prepare a place for them, and he would come back.
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you don’t have to worry about where you are going when you die. Heaven is a real place and Jesus has prepared it for you. But the only way to get there is to believe in Jesus – “the way and the truth and the life.” Through Jesus Christ, who died for your sin, there’s a place for you!
John 14:1-6 New International Version (NIV)
14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
