How Do You Reflect The Family?
Blogging Through 1 Corinthians: 1 Cor 1:2-3
My father would sometimes call me “Blanche.” Blanche was his mother’s name, and there were times I behaved just like her. He also called me by his sisters’ names when my actions resembled theirs, mainly how I walked or laughed. There was no denying that the Radford blood ran through my veins. I was a reflection of the family.
How are you a reflection of your family?
Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth was written in response to a report about some issues they were having. The believers were acting rather poorly, not at all like the people they were. Instead of beginning his letter with an admonishment, Paul started his letter with encouragement.
“To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 1:2-3
Paul reminded them of their position as God’s people. The word church in Greek means “a called-out people.” God had called them out, sanctified them (set them apart), from the world and to Him for His pleasure and purposes. They were transformed from their old way of life and set free to live as new persons in Christ. And their lives should reflect that they were members of God’s family, together with everyone who had called on the name of the Lord.
If you are “in Christ,” meaning you have accepted His gift of salvation, you too are called by God, set apart, and a member of His family.
How will you be a reflection of God’s family today?
